What happens when I come for a treatment?
Whatever treatment you choose, your first appointment will include a consultation lasting 15-30 when you will asked questions about your health and lifestyle. This is an important aspect of the treatment as it is beneficial for me the therapist to have an understanding of all the factors that may be affecting your health. You will be given time to discuss how the chosen treatment can help you. Whether it is for relaxation or to help with a particular condition and we will discuss how a course of treatments may benefit your particular condition.
Are all my details kept confidential?
Yes. All your personal details, including contact details, are completely confidential. None of your details will be passed to a third party.
How many treatments will I need?
This will vary for each person. A treatment once per month for relaxation and maintaining a sense of balance may be sufficient. If you are having to address a particular condition, a course of treatments may be needed as it is not realistic to expect that problems that have been present and developing over many years cannot be solved with one treatment.
Does it hurt?
Occasionally if there is an imbalance, the pressure applied is then adapted to the clients tolerance levels so as not to cause any unnecessary discomfort.
Where do the treatments take place?
They take place in a room within my home, This room is upstairs, However In some instances I can come to you.
How can i book?
You Can Call the number on the contacts page. Or email me about my availability.
What is the difference between Alternative and Complementary Therapy?
Treatment that is used instead of traditional Western medicine is referred to as Alternative therapy, whereas treatment that is used to enhance or aid medical practices is referred to as Complementary therapy. Holistic therapy is seen as being complementary.
What is a contra-indication?
A contra-indication is an existing condition that could be made worse by treatment, or be a possible cause of cross-infection. As a result, the treatment may not be possible at all or it may be adapted and special precautions taken. In some cases, it may be necessary for the therapist to seek professional medical advice and a GP referral may be required.
What should I wear for each therapy?
For all therapies, jewellery should be removed. For treatments where you remain fully clothed loose comfortable clothing is recommended, Respect and privacy is maintained throughout, particularly where it is necessary for you to change or remove clothing for massage
Should I use ice or heat?
ICE is the most called for application for sore and strained muscles. Ice has an analgesic effect, helping to reduce inflammation and swelling. It acts as a vasconstrictor to help push fluid out of the area, allowing the irritated tissue to relax.
HEAT acts as a vasodilator, and increases circulation and fluid in the area. Heat is useful when applied to stiff muscles or joints as it helps to open up the area and soften the tissues. However, do not use heat if there is soreness and inflammation as it can further aggravate the area.
What can I do after the massage to get the most benefit from it?
In addition to drinking plenty of water and using ice or heat, stretching is extremely beneficial, especially to any particular affected area on your body.

After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very definite way. Most people note a sense of well-being and relaxation; sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is transitory and is a part of the healing process.
This is vital information to feedback to the therapist as it shows how your body is responding to treatment. This will help me to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.

Are Holistic therapies recommended for the elderly?
Yes, some treatments are certainly recommended, My preferred choice to offer is reflexology it is a highly beneficial treatment for the elderly. It is a gentle non-invasive treatment carried out upon the feet alone, which helps to induce deep relaxation and in turn aids the bodies own healing process.
Reflexology complements orthodox medicine and helps with the general aches and pains of getting older, studies have shown the benefits felt in more serious complaints, including:
• Respiratory conditions, such as bronchitis, sinusitis, and emphysema, helping to reduce the symptoms involved
• High blood pressure by inducing deep relaxation, helping maintain a healthy blood pressure and even help to lower high blood pressure
• After a stroke. Patients using reflexology treatment have seen the beneficial help it can give to regaining function in affected limbs
• Anxiety and depression, people experience these debilitating conditions at all ages of life, and reflexology helps to relieve the symptoms by inducing relaxation and releasing endorphins into the blood stream, which work on enhancing mental well being
• Migraine and headaches, digestive problems and many mores
Before any treatment the practitioner will take a detailed case history in order to get a clear picture of the patient’s present and past health and with their knowledge of anatomy and physiology are able to adapt the reflexology treatment accordingly. Many patients or reflexology have said that not only do they enjoy the physical benefits of reflexology but also, being able to talk to their reflexologist in detail about their health, and being listened to.
