Workplace Therapies
The workplace in the 21st century is a fast moving, pressurized place to be, with technology meaning that staff are often on call 24 hours a day. Add to that the requirement to juggle social and home life alongside work, and life becomes a delicate balancing act. But your staff are your most important asset, so it is important for companies to look after their wellbeing.
Wellbeing is a word increasingly being used in the corporate world these days. Following the management standards developed by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), companies are investing much more on looking after their employees to help keep them healthy, motivated, cut down costs of sick leave and increase efficiency.
Therapies in the workplace are one such way for companies to care for their staff. Therapies can:-
- Reduce feelings of anxiety and stress
- Remove aches and pains
- Improve posture
- Improve concentration
- Reduce staff sickness
- Increase staff morale
- Increase productivity
One of the many ways to increase staff wellbeing is to employ a Holistic Therapist to offer a variety of therapies such as reflexology, reiki or massage.
Reflexology, in particular, has been found to have a great effect on reducing stress. One study in Denmark recorded an incredible 2,499 fewer sick hours over a 6 month period in a company where employees received reflexology. Such a reduction in sick hours will, of course, increase productivity and save costs.
Treatments would take place in a small area such as a meeting room, Set up as a clinic for the day. Staff will typically be allocated half an hour slots, although many take advantage of their lunch hours and book a whole hour.
In terms of cost, there are several options available to the company:-
- Company pays 100% of the treatment. This encourages more staff to have treatments, staff feel valued and supported additionally staff morale is boosted.
- Company subsidizes the treatment. The company pays for up to 50% of the treatment. Staff will receive a quality treatment at less cost than attending a private clinic, but with all the benefits. Staff feel Valued with moral boosted.
